Cheap Methods to Advertise Your Home Business
All businesses, regardless of what they trade in, or goods/services they provide all require one simple thing to allow them to function, thrive and survive. Money. This may sound like a gross over simplification of the economic structure of a company, but the truth is, without money, a business cannot possibly hope to work.
In order to earn money, a company among other things, must attract and appeal to customers, whether it is in terms of establishing a loyal customer base, or tapping into new markets.
Marketing is a means of advertising your company, and raising consumer awareness, because if people do not know about your company and the great quality goods and services on offer, then how on earth are they going to be able, or indeed willing to spend their money with you?
1. Developing a rapport with people, and establishing workable relationships are excellent ways of marketing. Successful and effective marketing is all about understanding your market, and your customers.
Therefore, actually talking to people and listening, noting what they like/dislike about products will give you some food for thought as to what areas to improve upon for your goods/services. If you are trying to break into an already competitive market, getting feedback as to some of the products on offer will give you a better idea as to what areas can be improved upon. Perhaps quality is too low, pricing is too high, or the product doesn’t last long enough. Consumers want the best value for money, so ignore their input at your peril!
2. Draw up a list of people you know, be it immediate friends and family, or people you know from a social club of some sort, tell them your business idea, and pitch your ideas to them so that they can provide their own input. Even if it works by means of a simple course of trial and error of what people like/dislike, this will give you a rounder idea as to what exactly your product should offer. Be ruthless in who you ask!
3. Business cards are an invaluable means of spreading the word about your company, so make sure you have a plentiful and ready supply in your pocket, car or any other such convenient location. Advertising material such as flyers and posters are also excellent ways of mass marketing and reaching a wider audience.
* Make sure to leave these items in local businesses such as convenience stores, dry cleaners, and laundrettes as given the high volume of traffic these places enjoy, this means that you can spread the net even further.
We all have a tendency to believe what our friends and acquaintances have to say. If an acquaintance, colleague, friend or family member refers us to someone that they trust, our instinct is to trust that person too. So referrals from your existing customers, you have a solid foundation to build upon!
