Everything You Need to Know about Building Reliable Links
Debates have been going on dealing with the topic of link building. Could having link building campaigns be acceptable? How about engines like google; can we say that these do not give penalties to sites that have non-related links designed to improve the search engine ratings commonly known as link farms.
Farms
Webmasters have been saying that Google gives penalties to those sites that use the link farming system; but then, there is the question of why those that have a rank of 5 placed on the link farm pages. Visiting the google search engine, any common keyword with the word "links" in the search would still give out results that lead to irrelevant although popular sites. Though this particular scheme isn't encouraged, good affiliations are still something I would support. It's good that a site that deals with selling jewelry could link with a site dealing in antiques because a visitor could have an interest in both.
In my case, visits coming from somewhat related sites to my own are quite numerous. The sites I have for webmasters get lots of visits from a variety of other sites. It may be claimed by webmasters that they are familiar with how search engines have been programmed. However, apart from those that programmed these search engines, nobody else would know the exact specifics of their programming.
It is true that there have been previous penalties to using the link farming scheme and having keyword-centric pages that merely direct visitors to the site's front page. We don't know, though, why there have been some who've escaped penalties.
Who to partner with?
I could link to sites related to my own. I could also partner with sites that have visitors possibly interested in my products. And then, I could link to and have links from the homepages of sites that are in the same genre as my own. When your site is linked from a site page that is highly ranked, you tend to get relevant visits to your site.
What are the steps to getting link partners?
There are providers of automated links management services and when you sign up with them, they'll manage your links and match you with partners. These are very efficient since uploads and downloads for the link exchange pages take a lot of time. These services aren't considered link farms since one can determine what sites to link with. Linking to every site could be considered wrongfully using the service while a disciplined use tends to help you a lot.
Try making a list of 20 terms related to your site; type each of these in google. Then, you could try contacting the sites that your searches bring up and try to get them to link with you in their inner or homepages. If they reply negatively, then perhaps they'd still sell ad space. If you have a recently launched site, you could ask other sites how much advertising for them costs. Not having to pay for hits is the ideal, but there are times when paying for services is the key.
* Don't spend above a hundred dollars per month if it's not a site that generates a lot of traffic for you with your ideal visitors. The ten to twenty-five dollar range per month is advisable. While some sites sell cheaply, some have very steep prices. You don't always get what you want but you just have to keep on going. There are now billions of these sites. Any number of rejections still leaves lots of chances. Do this weekly.
Then, get the services of a link-building firm. You spend more but everything gets laid out for you already.
* Consider pagerank. It's very useful but it can't be considered the only gauge for a site's success. Visit http://www.google-watch.org/pagerank.html for a good definition.
Link building isn't merely used for having a greater amount of link partners and better rankings in the search engines. With it, partnerships are built with other webmasters. This ends up being quite profitable. The method of link building might be tiring but it's very good at getting free or paid relevant page visits from other sites.
